Planning and Design Questions

As a design/build contractor Forest Glen takes responsibility for the architectural work using our in house staff. Our process insures that before you incur any expense for professional services you know exactly how much your improvement will cost.

Forest Glen offers design consultations and quotes free of charge.

All of our building materials are furnished by local companies. Our principle window and door supplier is Pella Windows and Doors. We supply custom cabinets by Bertch and Woodharbor and we prefer to install plumbing products produced by Grohe and Toto. However, we can accommodate preferences you may have in specific products. Get to know our suppliers.

Our vendors have showrooms where you can make choices and select your materials. We can arrange for you to visit some current and completed projects in your neighborhood and often times we have a new home completed nearby to view products and workmanship. Your Forest Glen representative can accompany you to help you through the selection process.

While many of our competitors in the Chicago market have invested in elaborate showrooms, our business model is driven more in the direction of customer satisfaction. We feel the added costs of developing and maintaining a showroom only adds to the costs customers pay for their improvements. We are principally providing the services of expert design and construction management.

Construction Phase Questions

Forest Glen will complete the applications for the permits and pursue them through the various bureaucracies and purchase the permits on your behalf. A Forest Glen project manager assigned to your job will coordinate all of the building inspections.

It is usually not necessary to move out during construction of most additions, of course it depends on the scale of the project and particular needs of the residents. Projects are quicker to complete if accommodations for inhabiting the residence are not required, but by and large our clients stay in their homes and we work to minimize the inconvenience construction can cause.

Preparing the plans and construction drawings are done within 30 days of the date of agreement. Applying and receiving the permits varies from town to town but we usually receive the permits within 60 days of application. Depending on the complexity of the project we can usually begin construction within 30 days of receiving the permits. Therefore, construction typically will begin within 120 days of the contract date.

After the permits are issued and before Forest Glen begins construction on a project, we provide our clients with a forecast of the anticipated completion schedule. We offer a guaranteed completion date – unprecedented in our industry.

Construction doesn’t slow down in the Chicago area during the winter months. We have the tools and technology to work through all but the most bitter Chicago weather.

Forest Glen assures you that all of our projects are built of good quality materials and workmanship. Within five years of completing your project, should you require any rebuilding or restoration due to defective materials or craftsmanship, Forest Glen will repair the problem. We only ask that you provide us with timely written notice of the defect(s) within the first five years of your project’s completion.
